I’ve been inhaling youtube content lately, and came across an interview Jamie Oliver did for a New Zealand TV station – and he said something that I found compelling. For all the knocking that Jamie gets from other chefs [Ramsay], I think he’s got some perspective right – at least in my opinion – that a lot of other chefs & cooks do not.
Interviewer: “Being a foodie – is all about snob value for some people?”
J.O.: “I think like anything you can make it snobby, definitely you can make it snobby. But, you know, if you break it down into sort of into layman’s terms, it’s about growing shit and cooking shit, really. And, uh…am I allowed to say shit? Not really. Shall I start that again?”
